Hi, there! My name is Jess Hellman, the maker and owner of JH Jewelry. I am a self taught silversmith from a small town in North Dakota! This passion for jewelry and stones fuels my livelihood and it pays the bills. Each creation is one of a kind, handmade in my tiny home studio! I started my silversmithing journey in March of 2024. In December of 2023 I quit my full time job and career of almost 9 years as a quality technician to care for my mother who had undergone 3 major surgeries in less than a year. I knew I needed to do something to keep my hands and brain busy during that time. I didn’t know what I wanted to do while I was sitting at home caring for my mom. Then I started researching how to silversmith. I’ve always been OBSESSED with silver jewelry and rocks. I also have a knack for measuring things and making things look beautiful all thanks to my quality background. I never thought it was possible for me to learn how to smith. So, I bought a bunch of tools, silver and stones. I watched some videos and bought some books. I sat down and started teaching myself one day. It did not come easy! But with time and practice (and the tiniest amount of patience) I learned all on my own how to melt metal together to make something beautiful. I took a MASSIVE gamble on myself. My family and friends believed in me more than I did. They pushed me and supported me to get to where I am today. Each one of my orders is personal to me as it is my passion and purpose.
